We the People
I am Brad Klippert, your 8th Legislative District Representative in Olympia. Two years ago I vowed to fight for and protect what makes WA a great state: hard-working citizens, a prosperous economy, and our Pacific Northwest way of life. I still have the same stance as I did then: traditional family values, community and personal safety, security, fiscal and social responsibility, and support for economic opportunity.
As your Representative I have stood by these values. I believe that there is an absolute standard of values, principles, and morals that should guide our elected representatives during the decision-making process. Too often our political leaders make choices based on what is popular or most expedient instead of doing what is right and Constitutional. I pledge that you can count on me not to waiver from that standard of guidance as I continue to represent you in the House of Representatives.
I co-sponsored HJR 4204 to ensure that only a marriage between a man and a woman is valid and recognized in WA state. I have co-sponsored multiple bills dealing with community and personal safety, and protection of children from sexual predators.
As a fiscal conservative, I understand the need to live within our means. In WA State, spending is out-of-control and mention is sometimes made of a state income tax. As your 8th Legislative District Representative, I will pledge to vote NO on any state income tax, and will continue to work to curb wasteful spending by balancing the budget in our state.
As your representative, I co-sponsored HJR 4215 to amend the WA State Constitution to require that hydroelectric generation be recognized as a renewable resource. I voted in favor of HB 2432 to recognize hydroelectric generation as a renewable resource.
I co-sponsored HB 2772, the climate change accountability act. This act required that all climate change legislation provide specific details in terms of the carbon offset, implementation costs, and cost savings. I appreciate the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, and there is a growing concern over “climate change” legislation that needs transparency and accountability to the people of the 8th Legislative District. I will not support Cap-and-Trade legislation in WA State but will work to protect our environment.
As your representative, I co-sponsored HJM 4009, which supported state sovereignty rights under the Tenth Amendment. Our Founding Fathers intended that the states retain all powers not enumerated to the Federal Government in the U.S. Constitution. The citizens of WA State deserve to determine their own views on issues such health care without having mandates passed down to them from the Federal Government.
I also co-sponsored HB2710, which required that every bill, act, or ordinance, cite the U.S. or WA State Constitution for authority for the provisions within the bill, act, or ordinance. Government must be returned to its intended function by the Founding Fathers.
Now, more than ever, the House of Representatives needs a strong, compassionate and hard working voice in in Olympia. In the years to come I will work for the people of the 8th Legislative District to keep our schools and communities safe while providing excellent education opportunities for our children. I will work to protect the lives of the unborn, the disabled, and the elderly. I believe that every citizen deserves the right to pursue success – through hard work and perseverance, not through government entitlements that are sending WA State deficits skyrocketing.
My background as a public servant, both on the east and west side of our state, which includes over 22 years of leadership experience in the military, 17-plus years of law enforcement experience, a Masters Degree in Teaching with certified class room teaching experience, give me the experience to continue to represent the people of the 8th Legislative District. I ask for your support this election season.
It has been said, “If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.” I took an oath to uphold the WA State Constitution and will continue to work hard for the people of the 8th Legislative District and ask for your continued support.
